Dr Ali FitzGibbon is a Senior Lecturer in Creative & Cultural Industries Management in the School of Arts, English & Languages at Queen’s University Belfast. You can read more about her Research here.

She joined the university as a fulltime lecturer in January 2019 and became Subject Lead for Arts Management & Cultural Policy and Convenor of the MA in Arts Management in December 2019.

Ali has worked as a freelance producer, programmer, researcher and arts/non-profit consultant for many years.  She has worked on an international level in professional theatre and multi-artform programmes in Ireland and Northern Ireland for over 25 years. She continues to work on discrete advisory and consultancy projects with organisations and public bodies/departments.

She has a long history as a campaigner for the arts in Northern Ireland. She is an exceptional fundraiser and strategic leader, supporting artists, advising on policy, and developing effective planning  and management approaches. She has particular expertise in social enterprise.

She has been teaching, training and mentoring young and experienced professionals since 2009, and started lecturing on the MA in Arts Management at Queen’s University Belfast when it began in 2012. Ali was made an honorary Industry Fellow at the Institute for Collaborative Research in the Humanities at Queen’s University Belfast before completing her PhD and joining the university fulltime in January 2019.
